Discovering the Monti district
Rione Monti with its more than 2,000 years of history is a place to experience and discover. Its heart is represented by the Piazza della Madonna dei Monti, which has also become a meeting point for young people as well as a picturesque and evocative setting for many famous film productions tcome “To Rome with Love” by Woody Allen. So much history with the nearby Imperial Forum and Colosseum and some of Rome’s most important and representative monuments such as the basilica of St. John Lateran, the mother of all churches in Rome and the world, and the basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the four papal basilicas of the Eternal City.
But rione Monti is also famous for being the place of historic buildings, artisan workshops, vintage stores, good food and culture . In fact, Via del Boschetto is known as the street with the most restaurants in all of Rome. Along this street also stands the Manhattan Theater, founded in 2008 by a group of enthusiasts, which is part of a redevelopment program for the Monti district that has been going on since the 1990s.
