Piazza degli Zingari

A small treasure chest of Roman authenticity

In the heart of the Monti district, Piazza degli Zingari is a small treasure trove of Roman authenticity.

Once a resting place for nomadic caravans, today it is one of the neighborhood’s most picturesque corners, where time seems to slow down amid artisan workshops and bohemian cafés. Its name evokes stories of passage and freedom, but also cinematic memories: here, in the surrounding streets, Totò filmed some scenes from the movie “An American in Rome,” immortalizing the irony and popular charm of 1950s Rome.

A quiet and poetic little square, ideal for a break between a visit to the museum and a glass of wine under the warm lights of the Monticiano sunset.
